I49 Shopping Center

A certified shopping experience.

A sustainable shopping center constructed atop a 50,000-square-meter section of industrial wasteland in Arnstadt with the support of Vollack. The shopping center features a 40-meter-long car wash, two grocery stores, and an electronics retail store covering 5,000 square meters. The center’s state-of-the-art shops are complemented by 400 parking spaces and a variety of attractive outdoor facilities. A plus for the environment: more than 70 percent of the site’s demolition material was recycled and reused. The shopping center also boasts a range of energy-efficient solutions, such as a reversible air-heating pump in the electronics retail store. The project’s sustainable construction was awarded the German Sustainable Building Council’s (DGNB) gold certificate.

“The ‘i49’ shopping center on Ichterhäuser Strasse is our contribution to a sustainable and growing Arnstadt, Ilm-Kreis, and Thuringia. A true success made possible by the building strategists at Vollack.”
